Bohemia, New York (December 2010) Data Device Corporation (DDC) introduces a new small form factor MIL-STD-1553 and ARINC 429 board, designed for applications that do not have a standard backplane, but have a USB port in the system.
Its small size, light weight, and durable construction make the BU-67102UX1 USB MIL-STD-1553 / ARINC 429 board an ideal solution for use in flight instrumentation applications, small displays, situational awareness systems, portable rugged laptops and tablets, and other small systems that do not have a standard slot. The USB board can be powered directly from the USB interface eliminating the need for multiple power supplies to provide mixed voltages to the board. The USB board is approximately 3.0 inches x 2.6 inches (76.2mm x 66mm) and can meet rugged levels of shock and vibration, along with an extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. The rugged USB board solution is available as 1553 only, 429 only, or fully populated with 1553/429 Multi-I/O to save space, power, weight, and cost in applications that need both MIL-STD-1553 and ARINC 429.
The Small Form Factor with USB 2.0 Interface is ideal for:
- Desktops, Laptops, and Tablet Computers
- Any Embedded Box with a USB Port
- Applications Requiring MIL-STD-1553 and ARINC 429 Connectivity in One Device
- Applications with Limited Space
“The BU-67102UX1 USB board is an ideal fit for applications that do not have a standard backplane but have a USB port in the system, allowing users to easily add MIL-STD-1553 and/or ARINC 429 connectivity while avoiding the high design and qualification costs associated with custom designs”, stated Sean Sleicher, DDC’s Data Bus Marketing Manager.
