Bohemia, New York (May 16, 2005) — Data Device Corporation (DDC) leader in data networking technology for military application, announced today that in Q3 they will be making sample shipment of the GigEXTREMEä ET-71000 Gigabit Ethernet network controller and TOE cards to lead customers.
Lead customer applications span avionics and vetronics, including high speed video processing, motor control and sensor interfacing. The ET-71000 architecture provides the flexibility required for embedded, real-time military applications. “Our processor-based architecture offers several benefits; full TCP/IP offload, programmability, and a standard socket interface,” said Steve Rood Goldman, Product Manager at DDC for High Speed Networking Components.
The co-processing approach used by the ET-71000 Gigabit Ethernet avionics card fully offloads the TCP/IP and UDP/IP protocol stack without requiring modification or recompilation of the network application. In addition to supporting the protocol stack, the embedded processor can be used to support system requirements specific to military programs such as traffic shaping, redundancy management and information security. ET-71000 is also IPv6 capable and supports board-level diagnostics.
The ET-71000 series of Gigabit Ethernet network controller cards are available with front panel 1000Base-T and optical 1000Base-SX connectivity or PMC rear connect 1000Base-T and 1000Base-X SERDES signals. DDC designed ET-71000 from the ground up to meet the challenges of flight critical and harsh military environments. Current shipments include driver support for VxWorks with additional operating system support planned for later this year.
