For Immediate Release: Bohemia, New York, Aug. 17, 2006 — Data Device Corporation (DDC), an international leading supplier of high-reliability data interface products, announces compliance with DO-178B Software Quality Certification for the MIL-STD-1553 portion of an embedded system to DO-178B, Level D worthiness.
The DO-178B support package provides essential elements for DDC’s MIL-STD-1553 software that are required to achieve the certification of a complete system and demonstrates the software quality necessary to meet DO-178B Level D with DDC’s MIL-STD-1553. The new package can be used with any aircraft that makes use of DDC’s MIL-STD-1553 Enhanced Mini-ACE Software Library and includes sample SAS and SCI support documentation and was developed using one of DDC’s MIL-STD-1553 PMC cards, running on an Integrity-178B operating system.
“This capability will be invaluable to our customers using our MIL-STD-1553 products by helping them to qualify their end systems to meet DO-178B software quality standards,” states Todd Decker, DDC’s MIL-STD-1553 Marketing Manager. “We are pleased to be the first manufacturer to offer this type of support.”
To ensure compliance with the objectives of DO-178B, DDC called in an independent auditor to review their software development processes. “The conclusion of this analysis is that DDC software processes effectively meet the objectives of RTCA DO-178B Software Level D” states Francois W. Guay, who is an FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) at Ensco, Inc.
