Data Device Corporation, an industry leader in military, aerospace, and commercial electronics, has an exciting employment opportunity for a senior level process engineering professional or a mid-level engineer looking for an opportunity to grow within the organization.
The incumbent will play a central technical role in the growth of several of the company’s product lines and will work along with the Engineering team to provide world class support to all areas of the organization including Procurement, Manufacturing and Product Assurance, with a focus on daily oversight of production processes to ensure cost efficient manufacture of quality products.
Additional duties include:

Make technical presentations to customers that directly support the winning of new business for DDC.

Create and maintain process documentation (Standard Operating Procedures, Design Documentation etc).

Visit and review suppliers’ facilities, capabilities and processes and report on their suitability for an identified need.

Seek opportunities to bring best industry practices to DDC via; attendance at applicable trade shows, research of technical literature, and participation in related technical organizations.

Solve technical issues relating to the use of DDC’s products in customers systems at customers’ facilities.

Job Description Details:
Primary/Essential Duties:
Specific duties include but are not limited to the following:
1. Provide day-to-day Process Engineering support to all areas of the company (Design, Product Development, Procurement, Manufacturing and Product Assurance).
2. Create and maintain process documentation (SOPs, travelers etc).
3. Propose and evaluate new processes, equipment and materials that will upgrade Manufacturing capability in all areas of the company (Hybrid fabrication, Discrete fabrication and Surface mount fabrication.
4. Evaluate and propose new packaging and construction technologies that keep DDC in the forefront of technology.
5. Assist in the evaluation and disposition of discrepant materials at Incoming Inspection and in the Manufacturing area.
6. Perform/support failure analysis on both internal products and customer returns.
7. Locate and develop outsource manufacturing capabilities for all product types and create systems and methods for continuous surveillance.
8. Assist with new product development and provide support for the timely fabrication of new products.
Secondary Duties:
1. Act as coordinator of the Process Engineering Group in the absence of the Group manager.
2. Represent Process Engineering at design reviews, as required.
3. Represent Process Engineering on technical issues with customers and vendors.
Job Qualifications - Education/Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree in Material Science, Mechanical Engineering or electrical Engineering.
2. Minimum of 5 years experience in surface mount or hybrid process technologies.
3. Knowledge of Mil Stds 883, 38510 and/or IPC 610 desirable.
4. Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments(DOE) desirable
5. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
6. Proactive in seeking solutions to potential problems or inefficient processes. Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
